A Heart Doc's Southern Fried Guide to Heart Health

Cardiologist Karl Hakmiller, MD, FACP, FACC, a physician with Cardiology Associates, is the featured speaker for South Baldwin Regional Medical Center at the Gulf Shores Senior Center’s health program in February. February is National Heart Month, and Dr. Hakmiller will speak on “A Heart Doc’s Southern Fried Guide to Heart Health.” Dr. Hakmiller will discuss a number of topics related to heart health, including the biology of the heart, diagnostic testing, and prevention and treatment of heart disease.

Dr. Hakmiller joined Cardiology Associates in 2003, moving from Maine with his wife and four children to live in Baldwin County. He earned his undergraduate degree from John Hopkins University in Baltimore and received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Hakmiller completed his residency at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, and spent 10 years as an internist before pursuing a fellowship in cardiology. He is the only Board Certified Nuclear Cardiologist and Board Certified Adult Transthoracic Echocardiologist in Baldwin County.

“A Heart Doc’s Southern Fried Guide to Heart Health” is free and open to the public, and a mini health fair will be held in conjunction with the talk. The presentation and health fair will be held at the Harry Roberts Community House at 300 East 16th Avenue, located east of Hwy 59 in Gulf Shores, on Monday, February 11 at 10 a.m. Call 251-968-1434 for more information.
