Dr. Thornton completed his fellowships in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, where he was chief fellow. He attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he completed his Residency, Internship and medical degree. Prior to pursuing the specialty of cardiology, Dr. Thornton practiced internal medicine as a hospitalist at a tertiary referral center in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  He graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
